I will not use any other software than MacCleanse for very good reasons. I have tried others that presented poor performance /or/ generated O.S. issues after usage. Time is important. I do not wish to have to repair the O.S. after a cleaning program induced problems. Thank you for MacCleanse.

I have a number of applications specifically designed to clean or have in-built cleaning capabilities but serve some other primary function. The nearest direct competitor, which I also possess, is CleanMyMac. I have used both interchangeably and without a critical review of the features and performance of each, I have concluded it is probably a draw. They each behave as expected. However, there is one big difference, I have an application called FastTasks that always singles out MacCleanse as contributing a performance penalty upon the operation of my MacBook Pro. I have no evidence of a penalty in existence, nor do I know why FastTasks should identify MacCleanse, rather than CleanMyMac, as the culprit. If either application caused damage to my Mac' I would remove it immediately. Until I have such evidence I will continue to use both without favouring one over the other.

I've been a big fan of MacCleanse from the get go, having the kind of hard drive that gets clogged with hi-res digital design work files pretty quickly, and usually at the worst time! It shows you how to eliminate unnecessary start-up files that are part of the OS at bootup and those pesky leftovers from incomplete 'uninstalls'. My only critique is I'd like a more simplistic description of what some of these files do, and I can make better judgements as to whether or not I need them - perhaps MacCleanse could recommend back of potentially important, though likely unnecessary, before deletion. Not always clear if after an 'Applications' folder scan, whether or not the erasure is complete, since the list doesn't clear out upon completion and i'm left wondering if I'm supposed to clean it again. Other than that, happy user, easy to use product, would definitely recommend.
